This was probably one of my favourite weddings of 2015.
Not only because Paul and Karen have become such good friends to me since meeting them more than a year ago whilst shooting their solemnisation in Singapore, but because no where in my wildest dreams would I have imagined my fledgling photography career bringing me all the way to the United States to capture such a beautiful wedding celebration.
The celebration itself was planned as really a time for friends and family to have fun, to enjoy each others company, to revel in the love that is Paul and Karen. They radiate love not only for each other but for the people around them as well.
Much of the lovely decor was DIY. Done up by Karen and her friends (the rustic fruit cake was made by Karen’s mom!), whilst Paul made the supermarket runs to grab flowers and such. They even included a “singapore” styled gatecrash just for kicks!
The venue was The Madison Hotel, New Jersey. A beautiful colonial era hotel, which housed a conservatory encased by tall windows allowing it to be bathed in natural light. It was stunning.
A renewal of vows which nearly moved me to tears, a father and daughter dance that was beautiful beyond belief, party music and awesome dance moves, all culminating in a short portrait session at sun high orchards (apple). Everything was just perfect.
On a personal note, this is truly why I even ventured into wedding photography. Images can construct a story, a beautiful day, emotion, truth, love, all things real and good, and when all these things are present, it moves me deeply.
treasure.
